Scoble on The Closed Blogosphere

Robert Scoble has done it again. He always seems to hit the nail on the head. Well.. Almost always. I can’t say that I agree with him in some cases. This just happens to be one of those times. He starts off well enough…

Listen, it’s real easy to get discovered. If you’re interesting.

Not all that true really. Here’s the problem, Robert. There are way too many of us all trying to be the star. You’ve done it by

  • a)having Uncle Bill back you up and
  • b)Being pretty darn good at it.

The rest of us? Well we sit and wait for someone with some clout like yourself to link up to our blog and hope that your traffic follows your link. What’s you solution?

Just leave your URL here and we’ll all go visit. I especially like blogs about technology. Are you a Java programmer? Leave a URL. C#’er? Leave a URL. Got some new Web site that you think is cool? Leave a URL.

Not bad. Problem with that is that it then becomes a free for all. Call me desperate, but I left my own comments. With URL. Yes, I would love to have a link from an A-Lister like yourself. And that’s the closest I’m going to come to begging.

For now, I will continue to write the way I write and do the things that I do. In the words of Abraham Lincoln:

I will prepare so that when my day comes I am ready.

Here’s to you Robert. Sometimes you have to step away from the forest to see the trees.
