Hosting Transfer Underway

I’ve moved all the data and db files over to the new host, and am just waiting on the domain transfer to go through.  As soon as it does, Thatedeguy will be at it’s new home.  In the middle, however, there may be some down time and so forth.  Should be back quickly though and fully expect it to be all back in full working order by the end of this coming week.  Hopefully, everything will go smoothly and you won’t notice anything.

One note: Any comments or posts (including this one) that appear here between now and the full switch over will disappear.  Unless I get super ambitious and decide to do the db move again.  We’ll see.

Admin not working

The backside of this site doesn’t seem to be working.  When I try to login to the admin side of it, I end up with either a blank page or a message about my mysql server going away.  So, I’m writing this with Microsoft Live Writer.

As a result, posting might be a little light until I figure this out.  I’m not sure what exactly is causing the problem, but I’m gonna go ahead and guess that it has something to do with the host.  Maybe it’s time to start migrating my sites over to my 1&1 hosting account.

If any of you have happened upon this particular error with a wordpress install and a godaddy mysql server, and gotten it fixed, do let me know how you fixed it.

Is it Spring Yet?

It’s been overcast and windy here all darn day.  And by windy, I mean North Dakota wind.  Constant 10-15 winds with huge gusts.  Hasn’t done much in the way of rain or snow, but it certainly has looked like it all day.

I really, really want spring to show up.  It’s been a long winter, or at least it seems that way when it’s on its way out.  Already, some of the bulbs are pushing their little leaves up out of the ground. They got snowed on last week.  That’s what you get for being ahead of the game I guess.

Whining aside, we have had a few days of spring that were quite enjoyable.  Connor loves to color so we bought him some sidewalk chalk and he has spent several hours outside making the sidewalk a mish-mash of colors.  Then it rains and washes it all away and gets it ready for another coat!

I really want to barbecue too.  We have once or twice this year, but each time it was more of a cook it outside and only go outside to check it when you have to.  I want to be able to sit outside while the food is cooking and even eat it out there if I want.  Without a coat.

Even as I say all of this, I know there are those in the southern hemisphere that are preparing for winter.  Sorry guys and gals.  I still want my spring though.

Nikon D80 in the House

Nikon D80 DSLR Digital Camera KitI buy items rather frequently to resell on eBay. I don’t make as much doing that as I with my portfolio of sites, but I do make money. Today, I got a shipment of two items that I had bought. One is a HD-DVD player (collectors item I suppose.) and a Nikon D80 Kit. Now, I’ve had my eye on a Nikon D series camera for quite some time. I really want one. I can’t afford one. So, I have to resort to buying one to resell just so I can take 5 minutes with it and test it. The nature of the items that I sell (store returns mostly) requires that the item be tested so that I can vouch for its usability. Darn. I’m going to hate testing out that D80.

Once I get it tested and can verify that it’s in full working order, I’ll be listing it on eBay. Should go live sometime this weekend. If you’re interested, you can take a look at thatedeguy’s auctions and make a bid!
