About a month ago I won one of BloggingExperiment.com’s Friday Phrase Auction. The phrase, or word in this case, was “income.” The idea is, I give him money and every instance of that word or phrase gets linked to whatever I link it to.
I paid $15 for the phrase income for one month. It’ll be expiring as soon as the auction for next months winner finishes tomorrow. So, the question with any sort of link purchasing is, in the end, was it worth it. In my case, I’d have to say that I’m neutral about it. Over the course of the month, I got about 104 (plus whatever comes from the next day or so) from the link on his blog. Not horrible, but was it worth $15? That works out to about $0.144 per click. If I had redirected the link to something other than a static page here with no sales pitch, that might have been a steal. But I did link it to a static page here and it doesn’t have a sales pitch. The only point was to expose the site to another audience. And for that, it was successful. At least to the tune of about 100 eyes.
I think it would be interesting to see if anyone has used their phrase to go to an actual sales page and whether they made any money off of that phrase or not.
