Win a Google Android G1 from Chitika

Chitika is having a contest to see who is making the best use of their Chitika Premium ad blocks in tandem with Adsense.

Since one of the best ways to earn the most revenue is by using AdSense and Chitika | Premium together on the same page, we thought we would hold a contest to see who has the best AdSense + Chitika | Premium setup.

All you’ve got to do is get them the URL of the site where you’ve got both Chitika Premium and Adsense set up. You can submit it in the comments of the announcement post or via email (listed on that post).  Best placement combo wins.

The grand prize winner gets their choice of a Google/T-Mobile Android G1, Blackberry Storm, or an Apple iPhone 3G 8GB.  Also, two runners up will get a cash prize of $200.  That’s nearly enough to buy your own phone.

I must admit that I had abandoned the Chitika program for quite some time due to lack of performance, but I was convinced to give it another try and it’s paid great dividends since.  What used to be a $3-4 a month payout, is now coming in at $50-$70!

Online Income for January 2008

I was pretty sure that January wouldn’t be as nice as December, but I still thought it would be a pretty decent month.  Turns out, it was my lowest income month since last September.  There are a few things that played into that, but I’ll talk about that later.  Here’s the numbers.

  • TLA: $27.65
  • Adsense: $148.60
  • Linkworth: $49.00
  • Amazon: $21.49
  • CJ: $1.95
  • Kontera $38.53
  • Shareasale: $37.52
  • Scratchback: $5.53
  • ClixGalore: $5.00

Grand Total: $335.27

Still, not a horrible month.  Just barely missed beating out November.  The big changes are, of course, that I’ve dropped TLA from this site.  So my income from them drops from $61 in December to $27 in January.  I still haven’t seen anything that says that Google will give me my pagerank back, but that really wasn’t the reason for doing that.  It will be merely a nice bonus if they do.  Adsense went down from December (which I expected) but is still up from November.  I’ve made a few changes that will hopefully result in continued good returns from that.

Kontera seems to be plateauing a little.  I’m not going to complain.  It was way up in December, then is down about $10 from November.  Still, $40-50 a month is still a pretty good revenue stream in the grand scheme of things here.

I’ve been playing a little bit with some PPC, but without having any great luck.  A little bit here and a little bit there. Overall, down.  I’ll have to keep tweaking and see if I can’t make it work a little better for me.

I’m also planning on building up a few of my other niche sites a little bit more than they are.  Hopefully, that will allow for some better returns in the next few months.

Online Income for December 2007

December is normally a really good month.  You’ve got to be trying to not make money.  I had a pretty good indication that it would be a good month when my adsense earnings passed Novembers within the first week.  By the end of the month, they had surpassed the entire earnings from November.  Here’s what the rest of it looked like.

  • TLA: $61.43
  • Adsense: $354.73
  • Linkworth: $49.00
  • Amazon: $38.90
  • CJ: $47.26
  • Kontera: $112.45
  • Scratchback: $5.94
  • ClickBank: $44.36
  • ClixGalore: $1.25

Grand Total for December: $715.32

Wow.  An increase of 112.97% over Novembers earnings.   The biggest gainer, obviously, was adsense.  It was only $89.59 last month, so close to a 400% increase there.  Kontera continues to increase as well.  About 150% there.  Amazon also picked up with the holiday season.  CJ and Clickbank both got a big sale and jumped the earnings up there.  I’ve completely abandoned PayPerPost.  The payout just wasn’t worth the work I found myself putting in.

I’ve made some money with scratchback, but that’s been slow at best.  If it doesn’t pick up, it’ll probably be the first casualty of the new year.  TLA is headed there as well.  December is the fourth straight month that earnings there have decreased.  Plus, getting rid of them could help get me back in Google’s graces and get my full PR back.

Income for November 2007

I’d like to say that I made an increase over October’s numbers, but I can’t.  The loss of the $100 in private reviews dropped me in below the October total.  I did however see a pretty good increase over September.

  • TLA: $76.24
  • Adsense: $89.59
  • PayPerPost: $17.00
  • Linkworth: $49.00
  • Amazon: $19.02
  • CJ: $5.76
  • Auction Ads: $7.11
  • Review Me: $21.00
  • Kontera: $47.41
  • ClixGalore: $3.75

Grand Total: $335.88.  That’s a decrease of 8.3% or $30.39 from October.  As you’ll likely notice, the TLA income has decreased again this month.  I think part of that is the Google fallout and the other part is the saturation of the market and the availability of cheaper sources.  The big surprise this month was the huge increase in Adsense.  An over $50 increase.  I’ve made a few changes, including putting some blocks in post on a few of my more popular search posts.  December is already looking like a good month for Adsense.  Another big jumper was Kontera.  A $30 increase there.  I continue to be surprised and delighted with my returns on that program.

December is already looking like a good month.  Adsense looks on track to keep up with November or possibly surpass it.  I can’t help but expect Kontera to increase again. At some point it will have to level out, but it shows no signs of that just yet.  I also added a third site to the Kontera network late in November, so that could help out if it performs as well as the other two sites have.

PayPerPost continues to disappoint so I think I’ll be dropping that program.  It’s just way too much work for way too little reward.  I made over $80 with it my first month, $25 my second month and have yet to get over $20 since then.  It really requires almost hourly checking to catch the better posts and that’s just a little too much for me when the payouts are that low.

November, December and January are traditionally the best months for the online realm so I expect December to be a pretty good month for me.  I’m trying out a few other things that hopefully will pay off.  Some arbitrage and some further development of some other assets.

Good luck to everybody for the holiday season!
